Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary, Dustin!

Thank you for one of the happiest years I have ever had and thank you for showing my that you love me every single day of it. You never stop making me laugh or smile and you've been there for me each time I needed you. I couldn't Imagine not having you as my best friend or having the opportunity to fall asleep next to you every night. Thank you for the promise that I will never have to know what its like not to. You are the most amazing person and I've never had so much hope and faith in someone as I have in you.
You'll always be my love cub, my lobster, my bear and my hero.
Here's to many more years with you!
I love you!

Lucy's day off

Blech. This week seems to have gone along non-stop and I'm completely wiped-out. Today will really be my only time this whole seven days to not feel obligated to to anything. I nannied for what felt like endless hours this week and zipping around everywhere in my new car, which I've come to realize drinks gas like we do water, was just tiring. I've also been to the theater three times this week! I saw The Big Year, which dispite its lack of advertising was and adorable movie in my opinion. I also saw Cowboys and Aliens at the Discount Cinema here in Simi Valley and saw Paranormal Activity 3 with Dustin last night. I was so petrified through the entire film, having seen the previous two I knew I wouldn't be happy seeing the third. It was by far the scariest one. If you were to ask me personally whether or not I recommended it, I would say, "Do not go!" If I can save anyone from the horror I felt in that theater, I will gladly try. I wouldn't let Dustin leave my side for the rest of the night. But moving on, I was a couch potato today and I do not blame myself either. A girl has to get her rest-on, right? Especially after a night of hardly sleeping. But why do naps in the middle of the day make me feel like I haven't been out of bed in years? It was well-deserved catch-up on sleep though. And tomorrow I'll be on the move again - trekking it out to Ventura (1 hr. away) for a friends pre-birthday celebration and then on Sunday, I'll be driving out to LA to see an old friend I haven't seen in ages, Shannan. The clock just never stops for me. But who says it has to?

Have any of you gotten your Halloween decorating finished yet? Or at least started? I feel I still have a little way to go yet before my faux cobwebs look sufficient. And I need pumpkins. And fake spiders. I'm so excited too for dressing up! Who (or what) will you be?

Halloween is upon us

My days lately have been so packed with work and errands that I hardly have time to do anything little and fun (since big fun like dates take presidence) but I've finally gotten around to holiday decorating - ahead of schedule! Using some of the acrylic paints in my mom's craft closet, I painted some holiday decorations onto my sliding door to my patio. A couple of lit jack-o-lanterns and a plack reading, "The Caspers." Perfect for Halloween right? Maybe just one more reason I can't wait to get married to this kid. And, like a scout in 90 degree heat, I braved the sunlight and hung craft store cobwebs all around my patio. A little on the wooden fence between the patio and the backyard, a little on the fence leading to the front yard, some on the stone pillars in front of the patio and some on the porch light. I can't wait to get actual pumpkins and pass out candy this year. Dustin's dad lives in Ventura and grows his own food and is growing pumpkins for Dustin and I! No pumpkin patch this year, sadly, but hey - free pumkins! Dustin is working Halloween night thanks to his nightmare, she-devil of a manager, so I'll be passing out candy this year solo. I'm going to love making our little porch into a halloween den for the trick-or-treaters and my creaky gate and black cat should make for good embience.

All Halloween goodness aside, mine and Dustin's one year anniversary is fastly approaching. The 28th! SOONER than Halloween! He brought up plans to me the other day about what to do for it, which made me feel special; not having to be the only one to mention it :) He wants to go to City Walk and do dinner, maybe movies too? I'm so jazzed.

I'll be sure to share pictures of my Halloween patio as Halloween gets closer, but for now, I'm on babysitter duty and my time is almost up. Have a good night all! Pleasant dreams... Muah hahah ha ha!

100th Post!

Forgetting all about that hiatus and that bad week from a month and a half ago, things in my life are swell and continue to look up. I'm still nannying for Katy and Nathan and will soon start watching another family of twin ten year old girls. I'm metting their mom Saturday at noon for coffee!

D and I are still going strong - its been nearly ten months now. My, how time flies. He's moved in and settled and calls our little place home now. His dad now comes to visit from out in Ventura and I'm slowly getting in touch with old friends. My old pal Alison and I went to the discount theater and caught Bridesmaids and now I'm dying to see it again - wanting to take my sisters Sally and Claudia. We'll see about that.

I've been enjoying more "me" time and watching movies I love and haven't seen in a while. I watched Coraline yesterday and today am watching The Royal Tennenbaums while working on painting a lampshade. Dustin's never seen it, but he fell asleep anyway, so I'm guessing it didn't grab his attention.

I've been working on other projects to make our little apartment-ette feel more homie. I've built a vertical garden in the patio going up the side of the house and done a nice little photo frame collage on the blank wall in our room. Bought some blown glass globes and hung some air plants in them over the bed. They're cute! Once Dustin and I get a proper bed, I think I'm going to paint a headboard to the wall instead of buying or making one. That should be pretty cute and unexpected for guests! I've already sewn black and white striped curtains for the sliding door, but have yet to buy the rest of the fabric for the other two windows in the room. And I desperately need furniture. I've never had so much space to fill that my decor ideas seem to be dwindling or not quite right for a space in the room.

It's my sister's husband's birthday today and I gave him a pretty damn good tattoo, if I may toot my own horn. Thats another thing that's been happening this month and a half; I've been tattooing finally. Dustin received the first one. He requested a Misfits Crimson Ghost skull on his right arm underneath his Black Flag tattoo. I later gave my sister Sally three lavender sprigs down her side and Dustin gets another tomorrow on his calf.

I'm usually bad about posting pictures, but next time I enter another posting, I'll do my best to sprinkle some in of all my projects and goings-on.

Toodles!

Holy wow

Yesterday was fun, but so, so hot. Dustin's brother, sister-in-law and neice and nephew came over from the Valley the go swimming and have a bbq since for some reason Moorpark celebrates on the third. We went to Arroyo Vista park with hoards of other people all clammering to get in for the fireworks show. I got a shaved ice and Dustin got some kennel corn to share with every one :) It got so cold though by the end of the the night that the tank I was wearing just wasn't cutting it. Dustin and I got to snuggle under the blanket and watch the fireworks, though, which made it nicer :) I kept getting afraid though that his neice would get lost or stolen because she kept running off into the crowd to play on the jungle gym with the other kids. Her parents didn't seem as worried, though.

It's going to be another scorcher today and I'm taking refuge in my room with my new stainless steel fan that's been working wonders. And the room reno is all finished! Besides a few brick-a-brack that I couldn't find a place for
